HOW IT WORKS
How to book a repair.
WHAT HAPPENS
What happens on a repair visit.
Diagnosis first, price second, work third. You get the number before anything is done, and a straight answer if the boiler is not worth spending money on.
1
Tell us the symptom
The fault code, the noise, what it does and when. Half the diagnosis happens on the phone, and it decides which part comes on the van.
2
Diagnosis on site
The actual fault found and shown to you, rather than a guess dressed up as one.
3
The price, before the work
The repair is priced once the fault is known and before anything is done, so nothing lands on the invoice afterwards.
4
Repair or replace, honestly
If the boiler is not worth the money you get told, with both numbers in front of you: the repair and a fixed replacement price.
5
The part
The faults we see most often on the makes we fit are usually already on the van. Where a part has to be ordered you get a real timeframe, not a vague promise to chase.
6
Tested before we leave
Combustion checked and the boiler left running properly, not just no longer showing a fault code.
Where we cover for repairs.
Bridgend county and the Vale as home ground, out to Cardiff one way and Neath and Port Talbot the other. Bridgend, Pencoed, Porthcawl, Pyle, Maesteg, Cowbridge, Barry, Llantwit Major, Penarth, Pontyclun, Cardiff, Neath and Port Talbot. Not on the list? Send your postcode and we will tell you straight away.
FIX OR REPLACE
If a repair is not worth it, we will tell you.
Sometimes the fault is bigger than the boiler is worth. Tell us what it is doing and we will give you both numbers, the repair and the replacement, before you commit to either.
The faults we actually get called to
Most breakdowns are one of a handful of things. Knowing which one you have got tells you whether it is a part, a service or a bigger conversation.
No hot water, heating still works
Usually the diverter valve. It is the part that decides whether heat goes to the taps or the radiators, and when it sticks you get one but not the other. A common repair, not a new boiler.
Boiler keeps losing pressure
Either a leak somewhere on the system or a failed expansion vessel. Topping it up weekly is treating the symptom. We find which of the two it is before quoting.
Radiators cold at the bottom
Sludge sitting in the bottom of the radiator, not a boiler fault. A powerflush sorts it. Cold at the top is air and only needs bleeding, which you can do yourself.
Banging or kettling noises
Limescale on the heat exchanger, so the water is boiling in patches. Worth acting on, because left alone it shortens the life of the boiler.
Locked out with a fault code
Write the code down before you reset it. Codes narrow the fault quickly and often mean we bring the right part first time instead of coming back.
No ignition in cold weather
Frozen condensate pipe is the classic January call. Often fixable in minutes, and we will talk you through it on the phone before charging you for a visit.
