The faults we actually get called to
Most breakdowns are one of a handful of things. Knowing which one you have got tells you whether it is a part, a service or a bigger conversation.
No hot water, heating still works
Usually the diverter valve. It is the part that decides whether heat goes to the taps or the radiators, and when it sticks you get one but not the other. A common repair, not a new boiler.
Boiler keeps losing pressure
Either a leak somewhere on the system or a failed expansion vessel. Topping it up weekly is treating the symptom. We find which of the two it is before quoting.
Radiators cold at the bottom
Sludge sitting in the bottom of the radiator, not a boiler fault. A powerflush sorts it. Cold at the top is air and only needs bleeding, which you can do yourself.
Banging or kettling noises
Limescale on the heat exchanger, so the water is boiling in patches. Worth acting on, because left alone it shortens the life of the boiler.
Locked out with a fault code
Write the code down before you reset it. Codes narrow the fault quickly and often mean we bring the right part first time instead of coming back.
No ignition in cold weather
Frozen condensate pipe is the classic January call. Often fixable in minutes, and we will talk you through it on the phone before charging you for a visit.
FIX OR REPLACE
If a repair is not worth it, here is the honest number.
